What does port forwarding do with Games?
I want to speed up my connection to MW3, will port forwarding do this? also will this have any effect on any of the laptops connection speed in the house, or are there any other things i should know about if i do this? Thanks, maz

In a nutshell, port fowarding is where you open your ports so that other connections can connect to you, which opens up the ability to host in games. It won't speed anything up though.

If you want to host a server for a game, you need to use port forwarding. I don't recommend using it on a laptop because (at least with my laptop) it shuts off the internet connection when you close it or leave it for a while, which would shut down your server. It's not for speeding up connection.
Port forwarding can make your computer easier to hack, but it's pretty unlikely. Hope this helps!
