A 0.40 kg ball is thrown with a speed of 8.5 m/s at an upward angle of 30 degrees?

What is its speed at its highest point?

How high does it go? (Conversation of energy)

    At the highest point the ball has an instantaneous velocity of 0 m/s. This is because gravity is acting on the ball by slowing it down during its travel upwards. At the very peak (the highest point) the ball is not moving. Gravity will then pull the ball back to the ground.

    I believe the max hight is 0.921556 m

    When it reaches maximum height, the ball temporarily stops, so its speed is 0.

    Height: The angle at which it's thrown is not important with conservation of energy

    U + K ± W = U + K

    K = Ug

    1/2 mv^2 = mgh

    1/2 v^2 = gh

    1/2 (8.5 m/s)^2 = (9.8 m/s^2) h

    h = 3.69m
