That's a little strange, yes. But if he doesn't say anything else along those lines or do anything else that makes you uncomfortable, it's nothing to worry about. Just make sure you tell someone if he starts to do other things (such as touching you).

The teacher might try to say he only meant his goal was to make you happy as a student in his classroom. So, if you didn't like an assignment or something that you did in class he would try to change what he did to make his students happy.
