I think it depends upon the organism that was ingested and your current health status. Some organisms can take 1 or 2 days to develop symptoms. Some can take more than a week. For example, the parasite, Giardiasis, can take up to 3 weeks to develop symptoms.
Some people can become infected and not develop any symptoms, yet harbor the organism inside them.
My suggestion is that, if you know that you ingested water that is suspicious for contamination, get a sample of it and have it tested if that is possible.
