Kindle Fire or iPod Touch, 4th Gen?
I'm having some trouble trying to decide whether to get an iPod Touch 4th Generation 8GB or a Kindle Fire. I had an iTouch, but it broke...it was a bit small for someone as clumsy as me to use, but I enjoyed taking it to school and to band and stuff. The Kindle Fire looks cool, but I'm not an Amazon Prime member, and I read that I won't be able to access all the features if I don't belong/subscribe to Amazon Prime (and I cannot afford it...)
Also, because I'm sixteen, I feel like it's childish to get an iPod Touch, but I'm not sure...
I am looking for something with apps (I've decided I'll pay for one or two this time around, but no more than that--I loved Free Apps when I had my iPod). I want to be able to listen to music, but I have an old Nano so I can use that while I use whatever I get. Reading is a big advantage in the Kindle Fire, because I cannot read off of the tiny iPod screen without getting a headache; however, I am not looking to buy many books, so it's not a necessity (but my library now has an eBook connection thing, so it'd be cool)... I have Netflix, but I know that there is an app for that on both Kindle Fire and the iTouch. Also, they are both the same size, so that doesn't matter; and don't tell me to get something even ten dollars more...$200 is the max I ask for in my "main gift".
Here are some...helpful details I guess:
~I don't plan on using Wifi 24/7; I want a device that I can use while travelling in the car, or at my grandma's house.
~I recently got a laptop, so I'm not too concerned about Internet browsing capabilities; however, if there is a Google Chrome app for either of these devices...well, that would rock (it wouldn't make much of a difference, though).
~I need an app for Twitter, Email (I use Gmail), and Facebook.
~The only apps I plan on purchasing are Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja (mainly the latter), and maybe like...one more? Again, I LOVE free apps. And I like a large selection, but the books seem like they could replace the need for a lot of apps...
~If I do watch a video or movie off of Netflix/Youtube, I don't want it to stop every two seconds.
~I am interesting in purchasing the Spotify app... if it has one, it would be a major selling point (unless, of course, it doesn't work off of Wifi).
~I am clumsy. I break and/or lose things easily. That said, I do want something I can tote around with me to band and stuff...
~The camera on the iPod seems awesome! Is it better than using a digital camera? Or is it really low quality?
~I like personalizing stuff....
Okay, that's a lot, I apologize...To sum it up, my main things are app selection, use away from wifi, and camera vs. size...(I guess?)
THANKS AHEAD OF TIME (if you make it this far...)

I would go for the iPod touch because you can do all sorts of things on it (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). You can also buy books and read magazines from the iBook store. The camera is not the best for taking still pictures but if you are using it for video, its awesome. For watching videos on YouTube/netflix, the new iPod Touch is pretty fast but it also depends from your internet speed. To keep it nice and safe, get a case and screen protector for it :)

The latest version of Kindle Fire is "Kindle Fire HDX", whereas for iPod Touch is "iPod Touch 5th Gen". These two fall in the same price range, making it a bit hard to find the perfect one for you.
So here is a comparison and list of pros and cons for getting either of these two:

The basic factor that will help you decide the best option would be "what you use your device for?". If your main use is music, playing around for time pass and some other usual stuff then iPod is your way to go. But if you want something for entertainment purpose, I.e watching movies, playing games, reading books, internet surfing, pics and videos etc then Kindle Fire HDX with the bigger screen would be more fun to have.
Hope this helped!

hi, Claire, iPod has a very small screen - you don't want to ruin your eyes, do you? Amazon's own web site has hundreds of reviews of Kindle Fire's new owners that gave it 1 or 2 star reviews because of choppy/laggy experience they got from this underpowered device. Also, it is confirmed at this time that many Kindle Fire units have faulty Wi-Fi and people have a lot of issues connecting to internet according to many user reviews. Nook Tablet's got Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Angry Brids, etc., the best battery life (30% beter than Fire), the best screen (visibly noticable difference in side by side tests in video playback and eBooks reading), double the RAM and space for apps/photoes/movies, microSD slot (not on Kindle) and a microphone for Skype (not on Kindle), physical volume controls on the side (not on Kindle), and much zippier performance during video playback and apps usage. All pro reviewers on the web clearly voiced that Nook Tablet is a much better device with superior performance compared to Kindle Fire.

I couldn't read through all of that sorry, here are a couple key points you should consider. The iPod touch camera is low quality (0.7 MP) but it can shoot really stunning HD videos. iPod touch has the largest app store at your fingertips. iPod touch is a multimedia device and the Kindle fire is mainly going to excel at book reading.

I have an iPod touch 4g and it's awesome, but I'm afraid to tell you that in order to get internet other then wifi you have to have something with 3G connection(iPod does not nor does the kindle fire) and even if it did you would have to pay monthly. So the only way to get Internet is to have wifi.

Books better your sentence structure, reading level, spelling, vocabulary, and generally are more educational than T.V.

when you are watching a tv or movie it is very easy to get distracted and multi task, where reading a written booklet, it usually has your full attention!
