Well, first let's not assume that everyone with a "Support The Troops" ribbon is against helping veterans get back to work. Then, once we have narrowed it down to the 10 or so sane members of these ribbon-displayers, hahaha...
In general republicans are going to vote to block ANYTHING this democratic president suggests, including denying support for who have put their lives on the line, while pretending to love the country.
The senate did pass a bill on Veterans Day that should help give some relief to jobless veterans.
But their shameless lack of support for those in need and those who have served the country would be enough to make me run and hide were I a republican:
First they cheered letting the uninsured die—then they booed a gay soldier. (the audience at last night's GOP candidates debate, Nov 20, 2011).
However, I'm not proud of many of the things this so-called democratic president has/hasn't done since taking office. Generally I do not believe the average citizen is represented by either party.

It will cost too much filtered through bureaucrat fingers and too much could be wasted on useless "make-work" jobs. The problem is caused by huge hordes of desperate overpopulating excess Asian labor sucking whole industries to the tiny wages they accept. Overpopulating hordes of my Irish relatives led European hordes doing that a century ago. They caused an awful depression then and Asians leading Latin Americans are making one the same way now.
Government make-work jobs won't help much but nuking a couple billion Asians would, but that can't be justified until they go on conquests for the land and resources their expanding hordes ultimately must have. China is preparing for that now like overpopulating (then) Japan was forced to do a century ago.

He is signing no such bill.
As those who read it and are capable of grasping English know, the bill does NOTHING more than suck money OUT of the economy and direct a SMALL bonus to those employing Veterans. As is always the case with all government spending, its net effect will be to REDUCE job availability.
He COULD simply order his own bureaucracies to OBEY THE LAW with respect to Veteran's preferences and this WOULD result in a lot more employment of Veterans, but as every sane person fully expected, government agencies' compliance with THE LAW in this respect has dropped-off A LOT under Obama's watch - you know - because he loves the people he defined in writing as his enemy.

If that is all this bill is about, I'd be for it. Usually, Obama's bills look like they are actually tring to help on the surface, but they are usually really about growing government, building up unions, adding to his voter base or trying to collapse the economy, and they NEVER do what they are advertised to do.
I'd be surprised if this bill was ONLY about helping veterans get back to work.

They are just against it, they don't want to give a reason.
