What part is 20% of anything? Since "percent" means "out of 100," 20% means "20 out of 100." This is equivalent to 20/100 which reduces to 1/5, or one out of five.
Since your assignment is worth "one out of five", a simple way to understand what it is worth is to add 92.14 four times, zero one time, then divide by 5.
92.14 + 92.14 + 92.14 + 92.14 + 0 = 368.56
(Or, 92.14 * 4 = 368.56)
Now, either multiply by 20% (20/100) or (0.20), or divide by 5.
368.56 / 5 = 73.712
This means a zero that counts as 20% of a grade when you alreadly have an average of 92.14% would reduce that score to an average of 73.712.
What if you made at least a score of 50 on this assignment?
(92.14 * 4) + 50 = 368.56 + 50 = 418.56
Now, to get the new average, either multiply by 20%, (20/100), or 0.20, or divide by 5.
418.56 / 5 = 83.712 (This score or average no doubt would be better).
