English mythology help please?
I have to write a paragraph on how odyesseus isn't a hero because he slept with Circe and calypso and was very arrogant because he yelled at cyclops... Will someone explain to me all the reasons why Odysseus isn't a hero? And explain each story including the one with Circe and calypso?

Odysseus -was- a hero, he just wasn't very chivalrous. He doesn't fit into the medieval idea of a heroic knight with courtly love or anything, but he's certainly still a hero, especially when looked at in a Classical context. Greek heroes all had character flaws; Odysseus was kind of a jerk, Achilles was driven by his rage and not his mind, Orestes didn't follow divine law, etc.
The incidents with Circe and Calypso are congruent with ancient Greek culture; it was okay to sleep around on your wife. (It wasn't okay for a wife to sleep around on a husband, though.) His interactions with the Cyclops were hubris (excessive behavior), and he was punished for it by Poseidon. That still doesn't mean that he isn't a hero.
