What is your idea of peace in the Middle East?

Just wondering what it is. You can give as much (or as few) details as you want.

Dream on guy, extermination of Islamo-facists is the only answer which will deliver peace. And, what has the United international locations ever finished to sell peace????? The arabs will never let there be peace, they have proven this many times. So you just have to get rid of them. Any decent person that is muslim will convert. I would be embarrassed to believe in such a hating religion. If there were no muslims, there would be peace.

My idea of peace in the middle east, is the immediate dissolve of the Arab spring, the immediate outlawing of radical Islamic practices, and war being declared on anyone claiming jihad!

Well, my idea is quiet straight forward.

If us Egyptians take the idea of befriending Israel another step higher, it'd be great. Because after that, maybe Saudi Arabia will come along too. :''V

I really wish that one day all the Arab countries, Muslims, Jews can live in peace. u w u

But sadly there's always going to be an old man who owns a country to ***** about it. Um-

When all the Arab countries involved in the so called Arab spring all get the governments of their choice and Israel finally makes a lasting peace with the Palestinians with terms acceptable to both sides. Could I be wishing for the moon ?

    Democracy.

That is real democracy as it is currently implemented in Western nations.

It is the tendency of real democracies to be friendly and at peace with other democracies.

Therefore, if many countries in the Middle East were democratic, it would be more peaceful.

"How on earth can Palestine become a democracy when Israel refuses to allow it to be a state?"

This question is based on the assumption that a future state of Palestine WILL be a democracy. As we both know, it has been established by both parties that a future state of Palestine is based on mutual negotiations resulting in agreements agreed to by BOTH sides. Realistically speaking, the mutual negotiations are going nowhere. But assuming they actually lead to an agreement NOW, with the current facts on the ground, would the resulting state of Palestine be hostile with Israel or at peace? I would argue that it would be hostile. I would also argue that it WOULDN'T be a democracy either.

I made a similar argument regarding Egypt's Arab Spring and a few anti Israel people thought I meant that in order for Egypt to be considered a democracy it had to be friendly with Israel. In actuality, what I meant was that the friendship and genuine peace with Israel is a SYMPTOM of genuine democracy.

Unfortunately, it seems that such thoughts are largely foreign to several anti Israel people who actually care very little whether there is democracy in the Middle East or not... as long as Israel's getting screwed, they're happy.

    Adherence to international law.

@BMCR, you forget, a democratic solution was proposed in 1939. How on earth can Palestine become a democracy when Israel refuses to allow it to be a state? Afterall, Israel didn't negotiate with the Palestinians in 1948, in fact the negotiator was murdered by the Zionists. Israel was allowed to keep all the territory it had invaded, and even though initially agreeing to, did not allow the refugees to return AND kept the Israeli-Arabs in a state of marshall law until 1966. Doesn't sound very democratic.

@BMCR, and how much negotiating did Israel do in 1948? In fact Israel has NEVER proposed a completely sovereign Palestine and said point blank, it will oppose it at all costs. Be this I mean, control of borders, natural resources and tax revenue. So again, I ask you, how can Palestine become democratic when Israel refuses it to become a state?

all states in the regiongetting along peacefully with one another, kinda like modern Europe

The Palestinians would have thier own state (West Bank and Gaza) alongside modern Israel

Realistically, that won't happen for a very long time, if ever

The end of Islam by whatever means.

Islam is without a doubt the most destructive ideology today.

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

Only when Islam is completely removed from the equation will there be the possibility of peace. That said, Arab nationalism, antisemitic conspiracy theories, and Orthodox jewry can still ruin this 'peace' thing.

Getting rid of religion may solve some problems but it still doesn't stop rabid nationalism, racism or dreams of conquest.
