How much would it cost to own an iPhone?
I am considering getting an iPhone for Christmas. I've had the same phone for three years and I'm eligible for an upgrade of course. Are you required to get some expensive data plan if you get an iPhone, or can I keep my same plan? The plan I have now is unlimited texting, calling, etc (i.e. no internet access w/o individual charges). I feel like if I got an iPhone I'd be forced to get some new data plan for it. How expensive would the cheapest data plan be though? I think the current plan I have now might be something like 40 dollars a month plus 10 more for each additional line (it's a family plan). Yeah, so basically I'm asking if getting an iPhone will force me to get some overpriced data plan. OH! I have AT&T!

It depends on what plan you are on now. Generally, the cheapest ATT data plan is 15$ a month for 200 MB of data. If you have wifi access, the phone will use that rather than the 200 MG of data. If you are on a family plan, you can add the data plan to a single line so you would be looking at a $15 a month increase.
And yes, to get an iPhone you must get a data plan. There isn't much of a point in getting an iPhone without a data plan. Once you get an iPhone with a data plan, using a dumb phone feels like churning your own butter or something equally miserable.
