Is this proof that ghosts exist?

You know how when someone is behind you, you always "feel" or detect their presence if they stay there long enough? You turn around and see a person there, standing.

But sometimes, you'll have the same EXACT feeling that someone has entered the room or the area that you're in. But you would be facing the entrance door or your eyes would tell you that no one is there.

So why does it happen? How would you explain those instances where you "feel" the presence of someone but don't actually see anyone? Is it because of ghosts? Heck, lets get even more bizarre and ask... Are we detecting Time-travelers with some sort of cloaking device used to study people from an earlier age? But maybe its nothing like that and its probably because we sense animals nearby, like cats or birds on the roof. Maybe its a sense that used to served us well back when we lived in caves and had to be alert due to predators?

Have you ever had the same feeling? What's your take on it?

Update:

I totally disagree Eri. I've had this feeling (as well as some friends who I'ved talk to about it). Its not some superstitious baloney either. Many instances have happened in my life where I would detect someone behind me. Standing nowhere close to me but usually, a few meters away. No funny odors, warmness, a shadow or anything of the sort that would make it obvious that person was actually there. But only the presence of a living being that alerts you that that person is there. So turn around and you see that person.

But there are other times when you experience the same exact feeling and you turn around or look about you and there is no one there.

Some very good questions and there are some sensations we can have that do not seem to be logical but do encounter none the less. Having a sense of presence can be quite curious. Just like when you feel someone is looking at you then you turn to see someone indeed looking at you. That if you have these sensations and feelings when people are there, if there is no one there is there some other extraordinary presence there ? Are our senses on track when we have these notions, yet still no one is there ? Im sure that not every time we encounter this odd feeling that it is a ghost if no one is there but who is to say that on occasion that it could be ? I have had experiences with what I would call a paranormal presence or being and it does surely challenge your normal senses and notions of what you have come to accept as normal .It does not seem normal at all and you can try to rationalize this but it does not always fit so easily into a logical explanation. After more than once surely can play upon your sanity but as logic would have it, there must be some other explanation for such occurrences. These feelings and sensations are but human and they can be challenged by a variety of external influences , even ones that we may not be able to see and comprehend. Im not saying this is proof of ghosts or spirits but just another collectively shared aspect of the paranormal that cannot be ignored. Take care. .

PS Thanks for sharing Pax, just more evidence that others do have these encounters. Im not so sure why some are so quick to shun these personal experiences by others ? It just does not seem logical to marginalize or rule this vast base of individuals insignificant.

I have felt that feeling before, and I would have guessed the same thing. It may not be proof to others, but probably you. I don't believe this is sixth sense, but it could be an animal instinct, or just a instinct that someone is there. I don't believe that time traveling could ever happen. XD

It could be an animal, but it's nothing.

It could be a ghost, if you truly have that eery feeling, I believe it's an extra ability we people may have, but never had discovered yet. Science is soo dependent on evidence. I do believe it's someone and once, I do remember, I felt it, and went to that part of the room face to confront it, and I didn't felt it ever again. It was cool.

I know what you mean its like a extra sense to protect us from things we cant Hear,Touch,Smell,See,Or Taste

But weirdly enough when my grandpa died me and my mom where in a quiet room we felt a weird presence then a cold breeze came in, at this point we tought my grandpa was alive when really he had just died, and ever sense Ive felt like i was being watched by someone.

I personally think we are being watched whether it be ghost, time travelers,or angels

In my persona opinion and experience, science doesnt prove ****. People think science explains it and all and then a few years go by and experts find something new. Science tells us things that have been discovered....there is so much more out there in the universe that scientists have yet to discover. My advice: go with your gut feeling and do some research. Combine scientific research with your own personal beliefs. Scientific research helps you think without going insane but also consider your own personal beliefs cuz not all scientific research can explain everything.

I'm not sure what else to say. Our brains are very complex things. People will NEVER be able to "prove" that ghosts exist. The spiritual world doesn't keep in contact with the real world. People believe only what they see and what they believe is real. I've never seen a ghost and I'm starting to think I will never see one but I still believe that strange things can happen.

I have the same feeling. I think that it maybe ghost and or time travlers :p i know its a spirit or a soul. I know the feeling its debated amongst scientist if its a 6th sense or not because we all have it. I have the same feeling. I think we are detecting EMF fields which ghost give off because when a Tv is turned on mostly and older non flat screen type i feel that sensation because the tv emits high EMF in the room. So if a ghost comes in i feel or anyone feels the EMF field or the disturbance of their own.

Is it proof, no since the concept of proof is meaningless in science. Is it evidence, all that science ever provides, possibly.

The link below will take you to some articles by a person that actually conducted research.

I suggest you read the research and decide for yourself what the evidence might imply.

Yes, the same thing has happened to me just last night (and other times). I was totally home alone not another person was in the house with me. The phone rang and no one was there, so I hung up and just as I put the phone down I got a really strong feeling that someone was nearby. Not just nearby, close enough that if it were a person we could both reach out our hands and touch. I stood up cautiously and walked around the room. The presence stayed in the same spot, so I reached out to it and it moved away. I sat down and meditated and the more focused I became the more clearly I saw a door.

I think it is proof that they're real. Although your other ideas about sensing nearby animals seems likely as well, I've always thought it as a spirit.

I believe there is a lot of answers on here for you so I'm going to make this short. Trust in your feelings First before you trust in anything anybody tells you. If you trust in your first impression you are trusting your higher self and it will be correct about 90% of the time. The second thought you get will be your sub-conscious trying to put together references from your history that make sense to you and will mostly be wrong. This is a key to the six sense.

No that's not a proof, produce a ghost and then we will consider it to be a proof.

Always remember there is always an logical explanation for every natural events... Like a blur on a photograph is way more likely to be a weather balloon than a spaceship and a ghostly old woman wandering around an old church is far more likely to be a hallucination or, you know, an actual confused old woman. As for the sudden dread feeling, researchers have found that sounds between 7 and 19 Hz it could induce fear, dread or panic. Even animals can create it, and tigers are particularly well known as a source. The frequency of a tiger's roar is around 18Hz -- right in that range mentioned earlier. All of the things that create the sound are huge, powerful and dangerous. Evolution might have taught us that this sound means Bad News! So now we have a phenomenon that occurs in nature, is invisible, is imperceptible on a conscious level, but can spontaneously make you feel irrational fear, even if you're sitting in an empty room. Notice how science just described one of the first and primary signs of a "haunting" -- unexplained feelings of fear or dread.

Yes, it is, and if I were you I'd shut up about it. Lest "They" find out. Trust me, you don't want them start thinking you know too much, they have ways of silencing those who know too much.

Source(s): I don't want to talk about it.
