Can self-harm cause you to be put in a mental hospital?
If you admit to a therapist or counselor that you self harm (cut), will they put you in a mental hospital? If not, what will they do to you?
And if you're under 18 do they have to tell your parents that you self harm?

it all depends mine knows i cut and it has not gotten me locked up yet. Now they can't tell your parents at all. They do see you as a suicide risk and will want to check up on you more in the area and see if you need to be put in a hospital but other than that if its not a big deal then you are fine. i do say you should stop cutting and if you want to talk to someone who's been there and done that i will be glad to talk to you.

No. My therapist knows I cut and I'm not in a mental hospital. Only if they think you're a suicide risk.
