People who were lawyers in another country have extreme difficulty becoming a lawyer in the USA.
Basically, your education you received in another country will be worthless. It is NOT recognized in the USA and you'll have to go to at least an additional 3 years of schooling to get your JD (juris doctorate). It's also important to note that in the USA, lawyers go to school for 8 years, not 5 like many other countries. After you get done with school, you will have to pass the bar exam in your state.
The job market for lawyers is very bad right now. The USA has more people graduating from law school than we have jobs for people in law. I estimate that it'll take more than 5 years for this backlog to end.

The law market will only get worse in the US. There is a huge oversupply of lawyers in the US. It grows bigger every year. There are a lot of in debt, no job, law grads in the US. The US is opening up even more law schools because easy government loans means lawyer supply does not have to equal lawyer demand. Then there are all the non-legal groups, as an example "Legal Zoom" providing legal services. You could give it a shot. I went to a top 15 law school and it was not worth it at all. The legal profession really has gone to the dogs in the US.
