If I ask them to replace my phone's LCD and I supply them with the LCD to replace the broken one?

It really depends on the shop. Personally I would have just contacted the insurance company (assuming you have insurance on the device). Otherwise it's less hassle and a better investment to purchase an entirely new unit.
