Have Iphone 3G why won't battery show it's fully charged?

It won't seem to want to fully charge despite an overnight charge,why?

    old battery and needs replacing, simply. The apple batteries only have a finite life and can only do a certain number of charges before a progressive drop of in performance...

    i think u definetely need a new battery because those batteries run out faster than anything and charging it a lot could mess it up so get a new battery or just get a new smartphone ur choice
