Is it ok to talk down to black people?

At my school, there's a balcony in the cafeteria, so some people sit up and some people sit below. Today I was yelling down to this black guy to say hey to him, because I didn't want to go all the way down the stairs. Is this ok?

    Absolutely. It's also okay if they're shorter than you.
