Poll: Why can women wear pants, but men can't wear dresses?

Pants were originally men's clothes you know...

Now, I don't want to wear a dress (I totally don't have the body for it, plus I like "man" clothes), but there are some guys who do want to. Yet if they do, they are automatically a social deviant. But if a woman wears men's clothes, no one really cares much.

...Double standard anyone?

Update:

Psh, kilts are so not skirts!

Update 2:

I have a feeling if a guy was going to wear a dress, he would shave his legs...

I wouldn't care if a guy wanted to wear a dress or a skirt.

I had a guy friend in high who wore a dress at school. It was his friend's birthday and she wanted all her friends to wear dresses that day. My friend went to the bathroom to get changed into his dress but was nervous to walk out in front of people in it. He asked me to walk with him, and I did, and no one said anything. Then again, everyone knew he was gay and very feminine so it didn't shock anyone to see him in a dress. It was a very pretty dress and he looked great. He had the legs for it. ;]

    I completely agree.

You know, "man dresses" were actually fashionable in the 70's-80's. David Bowie wore a "man dress".

I think it's just in our culture that dresses are shunned as "man clothes". People in African and middle eastern countries wear "robe like" garments...I think it's makes a lot of sense, they are much cooler than pants, pants get very hot to wear.

I know a guy who does actually wear skirts [not kilts, female skirts] and dresses, he makes them himself. He's not "deviant", he just likes them, he says they're more comfortable and he likes how they look. And you know, he looks as good in a dress/skirt as I do!! lol. He doesn't actually raise as many eyebrows as you might think, either. And what negative attention he does get from his dress wearing, he doesn't care anyway.

I think it's sad that we are so controlled by social conventions, if someone wants to wear something "unusual"...then let them and good luck to them!!

    Hi

My ex hubby is a cross dresser. He wear panties all the time. I get some for him at Xmass and on his birthday. When we were together, I used to dress him up and we would go our to a bar. He would even use the woman's washroom.

It's just the unfair world, I personally would never wear a dress but I think other men should be freely allowed to.

It's just another bullcrap double standard.. I say if a guy wants to wear a dress, let him wear it (without assuming he's a weirdo). Hey, it's better than those baggy pants that sag past your butt.

Because men don't have the curves to pull off a dress.

Girls HAD to wear dresses for hundreds of years, though....Back then, smart or rich guys wore fancy robes sometimes though so....
