reverse discrimination in scholarships, just your opinions?

I'm writing an essay about how its unfair that it is so much easier for minorities to get scholarships. That this affirmative action has turned into reverse discrimination, any opinions on the topic?

In my opinion, the white male is now the most discriminated against.......the older you get, the more this is true......just my opinion.

It is true to some extent. While the universities in my state (well, old state, I move this past summer) could no longer ask race, they did use last names as a basis of finding "under represented youth" as well as travel to under performing schools to recruit. Under performing here meant schools with minority students! So, they get around asking for race by actively finding out the applicants race.

In my town now there was a newspaper article a few weeks ago that I discussed with my family of 2 teenage children. It was how the middle school had a special program for Latino students. If they keep up their grades through high school they would be admitted to the university! But, my kids have no special accommodations!

I will say though, if someone wants something badly, he or she can get it. My son, a white male, managed to get a fellowship to WPI for his Master's and soon to be PhD. I think his field though is mostly white males though.

There are special scholarships based on race or ethnicity. There are none for "white" students per say. I really am not prejudiced at all! I have friends and even relatives (marriage and their kids) of other races. I just find it wrong to try to undo the past this way. Two wrongs don't make a right.
