I'm considering Vegetarianism?

I wanna start my new diet after this holiday is over and Thanksgiving food is gone, since most of it is meat. Is it just as simple as to not eat meat or should I take it one step at a time? I didn't eat meat all day and I don't have any desire for it either? Any advice or tips?

Update:

Could you give me some websites or information on artificial meat or vegetarian meals?

Well it's not just as simple as to not eat meat (and fish... why do people insist on calling themselves vegetarian when they still eat fish?) - lots of foods contain animal byproducts such as gelatine, rennet, etc so you need to get into the habit of reading labels on foods, but most foods will state whether they are vegetarian anyway, usually with a "V" sign somewhere on the packet.

I went vegetarian in 'one go', and it was very easy because like you I didn't use to eat meat much anyway and didn't have the desire for it - it should be relatively easy for you to go "cold turkey" and make the transition instantly in that case. Just make sure you're doing it healthily - get plenty of nuts, seeds, fruit, veg, etc in your diet. Being vegetarian doesn't just involve eating "salad" - there's plenty of interesting recipes you can try as a veggie!

I don't live in America (I assume that's where you are because this is Y!A USA) so I don't know much about your faux/artificial meats, but as for vegetarian meals/recipes check here:

Good luck, and thank you for making the change :)

Some do it cold turkey (pun) & some do it step by step. I personally cut it all out at once, google veggie meals yourself. Artifical mock meats will be found in the freezer section of any decent health store & healthfood stores.

Do not do a western diet of just carrots/peas minus the meat on your plate, get some various beans & veg etc & eat them.

If your reasoning is weight loss add exercise into the mix, if your reasoning is animal ethics. Veganism should be your eventual goal as cruelty is still committed by the egg/dairy industry & vanity industries of leather/fur etc.

I went all in for about two years and found it to be very gratifying. I lost 20 LBS and had so much energy! then i started P90x and needed more food so back on meat i went i feel that it was a mistake i think that the vegetarian for dummies is a great help book.. good luck!

I lost alot of weight off of Fruit and Vegetables, cut out all the meat, beans and vegetables have all the same vitamins as meat, even more, plus it's clean and earthy, meat is basically toxic.

Well, for me, it was a gradual process.

I didn't eat mammals (beef, pork, etc) for about a year. And then I stopped eating other animals (chicken, turkey, etc).

I still eat fish though. I didn't find it too hard, I eat a lot of artificial meat, which is quite good. For Thanksgiving and Christmas I eat vegan tofurkey with mushroom gravy.

    It's not too bad.
