What should we do for one day/nght in London?
we are flyng to london, getting in around 1130 in the morning, and then leaving the next morning to go to amsterdam. what are the best things to do for our short time there?

A bit of shopping in Harrods, lunch in Leicester Square (fantastic place to be at this time of year) and then a ride on the London Eye in the evening.

You can go shopping anywhere and London is particularly expensive. I would suggest a boat trip on the Thames from Westminster Pier which will give you a good overview of London plus a visit to one of our superb museums or art galleries. Google them to see which one corresponds with your interests:-

It really depends what sort of things interest you. I love alternative stuff so always go shopping at Camden Market (clothes, jewellery records and world food). However an open top bus tour would be good for you, that way you get to see a lot in short space of time.
