Hello, Halie, it is confirmed that Prime movies can't be downloaded, only streamed, making them impossible to watch without Wi-Fi on Kindle Fire. Also, on Fire when the Silk internet browser is pointed at the Android market, it reverts to the Amazon market with much more limited content. Wi-Fi connection problems are being frequently reported by Kindle Fire users and reviewers as well as touchscreen is being reported as having a sluggish response. Slower and jerkier than expected web browsing thus no benefit from Silk browser. Power button is badly placed, leading to accidental turning off of the device (a lot of complains about this one). Amazon's own web site has hundreds of reviews (over 700 already) of Kindle Fire's new owners that gave it 1 or 2 star reviews because of choppy/laggy experience they got from this underpowered device.

Nook Tablet has been getting rave pro reviews on the web and it is the best device in it's class. It's got Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Angry Brids, etc., the best battery life, the best screen, double the RAM and space for apps/photoes/movies, microSD slot and a microphone for Skype (not on Kindle), physical volume controls on the side (not on Kindle) and much zippier performance during video playback and apps usage than choppy/laggy act of Kindle Fire according to many user and pro's reviews.

Kindle Fire IS an Android tablet, but with some limitations that Amazon has put in front of it. Likewise the B&N Nook Tablet and Nook Color, but with even a bit more limitations.

They both have their own market, but the Amazon market is way better than the one on Nook. Still Google Android Market, not found on either, is way better then both...

There is a way to connect an Android device with iTunes (not sure how, I use the iTunes only for my iPod classic and nothing else), but you surely won't be able to install apps over it. For the music - yes, for the videos - not sure but I wouldn't hope too much, for the apps - forget it, they are only built for the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. I'm not sure how easy it would be to connect to Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet, though.

Regardless of this, for a casual user, Fire is a great device. You won't probably even notice the restrictions. Nook Tablet has some restrictions even a casual user would easily notice (e.g. lack of apps in the market and especially lack of free apps), it's more powerful device, but has to be tweaked a bit in order to achieve the same quality of usage.

I would say android. Kindle is horrible. The nook tablet is what I am wanting to get though basically like an ipad but way cheaper. :)
