I used Audacity, when i first started messing around with stuff like that. Its pretty user friendly and there are a lot of Youtube videos on how to do certain things. Good luck.

FL Studio is professional quality, but it's very complex and takes a fair amount of time to learn how to use to it's full potential. But there are hundreds of tutorials on youtube.
