What are the procedures for the Last Post?

Is the last post played solely at the funerals of defence forces members who died at war; or is it played at the funerals of active duty members and retired members?

And is the last post played at the funerals of fallen police constables like the taps is in the US?

The 'Last Post' (Taps) is played every evening, usually at sunset, in the military establishments of both the US and here in the UK and I guess right around NATO and etc.

The last post was originally to mark the end of a day for British military personal now it is for remembrance day and funerals for those who have fallen in like ww1+2 but soldiers dying today still get it and no it is a British and commonwealth tune. But no the police do not get it it is really for those who have fought and died for there country

The clue is in the word 'Last'. And just for soldiers, not police.
