What`s the best breed of dog for me?
I'm in a small senior/disabled apartment community with small property. I have mobility challenges, so I can't handle an energetic dog. A medium dog would be best if it is relatively calm and mature. Is there a survey website or Q&A that will help me find the best breed for me?

If you google "dog breed selector quiz" you'll get tons of quizzes. They aren't perfect but they'll give you some ideas on where to start. Make sure you do tons of research on the breed before making a final decision.
Also, I'd suggest a dog and not a puppy since all puppies are energetic. Some dogs can be pretty energetic for much of their lives so you'll want to steer clear of those breeds. Many smaller breeds and terriers fall into that category.

If you are a senior and you have never had a dog before, a dog will cause you numerous problems. A dog will go crackers if it is not exercised, it also needs grooming. Although a rescue organisation often says that a dog is toilet trained, it could still pee in the apartment.
A dog always needs a pee when it wakes up in the morning, it cannot cross its legs until you get dressed. Dare you go out during the night if your dog needs a pee? Can you clean up after a dog if it vomits or has diarrhoea? Do you have a safe fenced garden/yard for your dog. Could you control a dog who pulls on the leash? If in spite of your mobility problems you can exercise a dog, is there somewhere in your apartment to bath a dog if it rolls in a mud?

First of all, the best dog for anyone is a shelter dog. You can find practically any breed in shelters and the dogs come with all immunizations for a small adoption fee (plus they really need a home) . Secondly, I would recommend a Yorkshire Terrier! They have silky hair that does NOT shed, they are extremely intelligent, making them very easy to train, and they are absolutely the most loyal and loving dogs I have ever seen. I have owned many different dogs of all breeds and loved them all, but my yorkie, Duke, was one of those dogs that you never forget. My young step brother once toddled off at the age of one when I turned my back for one second in the backyard (no fence), I was panicked looking everywhere for him; then here comes Duke, the wonder dog, pulling him back to me by his diaper =)

Cavalier King Charles often fits your description - but make sure you contact a reputable breeder, via the Breed Club, as this breed has become too popular, and the victim of BYBs producing puppies of poor quality, for MONEY. You might also consider going to your local Shelter (although some can be very biased about letting other than a 'perfect family' adopt!!) and see if there's a slightly older calmer adult there. I'd suggest a puppy may be too much for you to cope with, unless you have help?

Get an adult or senior dog from a shelter or rescue if you want a "calm" dog. Most all dogs are working dogs, and will have a good amount of energy.
I wouldn't focus so much on breed, as I would the individual dog. Go to your local shelter and browse the dogs there. Ask the staff which ones are older, and calmer.
Search petfinder.com and you can search by size and age.

I would go with a small breed, take a look into Chinese Crested. They come in powder puff, hairy hairless, and hairless. They make GREAT companion dogs and aren't super energetic. But keep in mind all dogs need excersize and attention.
But, if you have an open mind. It sounds like a cat might be a better option if you have limited mobility.

A West Highland White Terrier is a loyal smart dog. They love people and makes an affectionate addition to any family. The ideal size is eleven inches at the withers for dogs and ten inches for bitches. The can be a little pricey though. I just adore them. I think you'll get along splendid with a Westie.

Maybe go to the Humane Society/Shelter and asking them which dog there would be right for you. Don't just buy a dog, ADOPT a dog and save a life(:
The workers there usually have a great idea of the dog's behavior... They can match you with another dog perfectly!
