I have a Remington Model 742, 30-06 and need to replace the forearm?

I noticed the Model 750 has a nice forearm. What modifications are required to make it fit a Model 742

If you plan on maintaining your accuracy, the stock should be replaced with a factory original replacement only. The 750 forearm may look nice and might be close in design to the 742, but unless it matches up EXACTLY, at best, your accuracy will suffer, and at worst, you could experience a catastrophic failure when firing the rifle. Cross reference the part numbers for both stocks with Remington. If they both have the same part number, they are identical and you should have no problem. Otherwise, stick with the original.
