It helped me, they will probably try to find out why you cut, then help you find a more positive outlet. If you have listened carefully to what your therapist said and taken on board all the advice and tips they gave you it will work. But these things take time, I'm sure you can stop! It get's easier everyday. Good luck!

I cut more after I started. My mom decided after a year that it wasn't working and decided to have "counseling sessions" herself with me once a week. It helps a bit more than a stranger did but I still have trouble. When you want to harm tell someone.

I still kept harming afterwards. My counselor told my parents she couldn't work with me anymore and she quit the position as my counselor. I stopped myself and haven't cut in probably 1 1/2 years. btw I was in counseling about 3 years ago

i'm happy you will seek advice from somebody. It rather facilitates =) i'm particular you're worried and scared... i be attentive to i replaced into till now my first consultation! you will cry, i will very almost assure you. I went in announcing I wasn't gonna cry, and through the time I left all of my makeup replaced into long previous. i replaced into great when I went in, yet when I had to easily communicate approximately my existence I broke down... For some reason i do unlike speaking approximately my alcoholic mom and ineffective dad... think of that. you will no longer prefer to open as much as them, yet do it besides. It makes you sense plenty extra helpful. The counselor won't choose you because of the fact of your self injury, they'll attempt that might actually assist you. they gained't placed you on watch except they think of you will kill your self. they'll seek advice from you relating to the justifications you self injury, and assist you artwork out the thank you to resign. The counselor can't tell all of us something approximately what you tell them, no longer even your mum and dad(in case you nevertheless stay with them). sturdy luck!

For me, it didn't at all.

But I think it's a matter of if you're willing to quit or not.

    Do you want to stop?

If you do it'll most likely help a lot. It also depends on who you're talking to and their methods of counseling.

counsellors are all insane and I might just be past the point of help but in the end I started showing them the fresh cuts, just to rub the fact that they weren't helping in their faces.
