How do I improve my passing?
My coach says that I have good form but that I need to to improve my consistency on getting the ball to the setter. I'm not swinging my arms and am working on using my hips more. My problem is my footwork. I cross my legs a lot when I try to get to a ball and for some reason my ankles hurt when I shuffle (I have braces). I also have trouble reading hitters whenever their hand curves a different way then where their shoulders are facing. Any tips on fixing these problems? I don't want the advice of passing to myself or to a wall.

Set your feet everytime. think of a "one - two" step. Always re-set your feet. It may feel a little silly, at first, but it helps consistency. If you can't shuffle, run and reset so your facing you hitter. Watch your hitters shoulder because where ever her shoulder is facing, she will be hitting. If her hand curves, you will know because of where here other hand goes up to spot. It's just automatic... Also, have confidence. always think "I'm GOING to pass this ball perfectly.."
Have a partner hit volleyballs down at you. Have her stand on the 10-foot line, while you stand on the end line. Practice your reset and your platform.
Hope that helps.

Your ankles shouldn't hurt when shuffling if you have braces. The only way to get to a ball is to shuffle. Ask your coach on how to read the hitters

I used to cross my legs and lunge at the ball when passing, but my coach tells me to widen up your stance and have your dominant foot slightly in front of the other. When the ball comes you might want to try stepping into the pass.
