It might be worth taking it to a local electronics repair shop. What is your brother's problem?

Are you able to insert and play games? I would think that the two wires are just for the blue LEDs at the front of the wii, so it should work fine. If it doesn't you can always softmod it and run you games through a harddisk instead. Here is an easy step by step guide on how to do that: http://www.howtomodyourwii.com/
