It's caused by humans emitting various substances (in the case of global warming and ocean acidification, carbon dioxide) vastly in excess of what natural systems can normally process, or otherwise significantly altering the natural distribution of some compound or other characteristic necessary for life.
In the case of CO2, what we need to do to prevent further change is to cut or at least severely reduce our use of fossil fuels, such as coal and gasoline. We can do this by reducing our consumption of energy (by increasing efficiency, or simply by using less), and by switching to non-fossil sources of power--solar, wind, biomass, et cetera.

Climate change is caused by sevaral different factors, I'm going to explain two of the most important ones!
Global Warming: Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect; the greenhouse effect is a natural part of earth's system. It basiclly works like this, gases in the atmosphear let the energyfilled beams of sunlight pierce down to the surface of our planet, where they are should be reflected back to the universe, but thanks to these gases parts of the energy is captured (heat) inside of the earth's atmosphear. Without the greenhouse effect, earth would be a cold place almost impossible for us humans to live on. But since we are letting more and more of these gases (for example carbon dioxide and methane) into the atmosphere, too much heat is captured and this causes the average temperature to rise. The problem is that we move carbondioxide from beeing stored deep underground to the atmosphere and the air around us. This can be stopped if we stop using so much materials that produce these gases, for example oil and gas.
Erosion and dessert forming: When we burn down or by any means remove forrests (trees) and plant crops or use the area for kettle farming, we remove the one thing that keep the particles of the earth together, the roots. This will cause all the important and nutrients and mineral to disappear, since there is nothing left to keep them, they will for example dissolve in the rainwater the pours through the earth. In the end this means that nothing will be able to grow in that particular area, it becomes a dessert, a dead place. We can stop this by stop cutting down forrests, our sick demand for loads of unneccessary food is what makes the farmers and peasants cut down the food.

Climate is driven by the Sun and people don't control the Sun. It's true that the planet has warmed somewhat over the last several decades but people didn't cause it.
