Why do we have to make our beds?

First, because your Mom said so. No arguments.

But also, making your bed immediately makes your room look neater.

A made up bed feels better when you get back in it.

If you want to lay on it and read or do homework, you will be able to concentrate better because you won't be distracted by the mess.

If your friends come over, you won't look like a slob.

You won't lose things in the covers.

And lastly, because your Mom said so and you are living in her house. You owe her.

Well one could argue why bathe you are just going to get dirty or why brush your teeth before you leave the house you are just going to dirty them with lunch anyway.

But I only make the bed when company is coming over. Otherwise it is as I left it in the morning. My mom made me make my bed everyday too. Moved out, anbd have only made my bed when visitors are coming over. And for about the last 16 years too.

Why? Because your mother feeds you, clothes you, takes care of you when you are sick ... and that's how she wants you to keep your room. She likes things neat and clean, looking like people care about where they live. And it's her house, so she gets to call the shots.

I agree with you ... but that's not going to change the fact that you must make your bed. So get over it, stop making yourself miserable about something you obviously are not going to change. You are only making yourself unhappy.

I think making the bed has no purpose. No one goes into your room and your gonna sleep in it that night anyways

she wants to teach you discipline or to make the room look clean but I hate making my bed and refuse to do it!

Dunno.. even though I likely still do it because my parents forced the habit, it only takes a second..
