New Young Adult books?

I am an avid reader, and I have extinguished my current source of books. My favourite books are YA paranormal romance, but I'm good with normal, YA romance as well. Just as a sort of guidline, these are some of my favourite books.

- Mortal Instruments

-Anna and the French Kiss

-Fallen

-Unearthly

-Twilight (Don't judge!)

-Vampire Academy

-Maximum Ride

-Summer I Turned Pretty

-My Soul to Take

As a major Vampire Academy fan, here are some books/series I recommend to you. :)

    ***

    Bloodlines by Richelle Mead ♥

*The Golden Lily - releases June 19, 2012

Note: You might know about this already, but this is the spin-off series to Vampire Academy. Every VA fan is going to want to check this out. Sydney is the main character, and while she's not too much like Rose, she's still pretty badass in her own way.

The Demon Trapper's Daughter by Jana Oliver ♥

    *Soul Thief

    *Forgiven - releases February 28, 2012

Note: I love this series and I'm hoping there will be more after book 3. Riley is a totally kickass girl and Beck is an absolute hottie!! :D This is one of my favorite paranormal series.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins ♥

    *Catching Fire ♥

    *Mockingjay

Note: Everyone should read this series. It is just that epic. One of my favorite series ever.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder ♥

    *Magic Study ♥

    *Fire Study

Note: One of my favorites. :) Yelena was such a strong heroine; she learns how to fight and use a bo staff. She definitely reminded me of Rose at times. And Valek... yum. :P There's some good romance action going on in this one. ;)

    Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Note: WOW!! This book is just awesome. Juliette seems sort of wimpy at first, but she becomes pretty kickass by the end of the book. With a tagline like "My touch is power" you get a good sense that some epic type stuff is going to go down. And Adam... *sigh* This was one of my favorite reads this year.

    Legend by Marie Lu

Note: So... I just started reading this the other day and so far so good. I really like June. :) If you like dystopian, you might want to check this one out.

    Divergent by Veronica Roth

    *Insurgent - releases May 28, 2012

Note: Pretty good start to a decent dystopian series. Four is awesome. :P

A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

    *A Touch Morbid - releases February 28, 2012

Note: This is on my wishlist. I don't know a lot about it to be honest, but I think it has to do with angels.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Note: Also on my wishlist. I keep hearing really good things about this. Also has to do with angels... I think.

    Chime by Franny Billingsley ♥

Note: One of my favorite books this year. As soon as I finished, I wanted to flip it back around and start it again. I really loved it. Hope you will too. :)

The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell ♥

    *The Springsweet - releases April 17, 2012

Note: I can't WAIT for the next book!! The Vespertine was so unlike anything I'd ever read, in a good way. It made me want to read more historical/paranormals.

Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz

    *Deadly Little Lies

    *Deadly Little Games

    *Deadly Little Voices

*Deadly Little Lessons - TBA 2012

Note: I love how the bad guy is always someone you don't expect.

The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

Note: The main character of this is a guy. I actually haven't read it yet but I would really like to!! With a recommendation from Suzanne Collins (author of Hunger Games) I'd say it's definitely worth checking out.

Blood Red Road by Moira Young ♥

Note: Ahhh... I loved it!! This book keeps getting compared Hunger Games, and while I could see *some* similarities, the two are so totally different. I loved both though. :) Can't wait for book 2!!

    Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

    *Shift

    *Shine - releases May 1, 2012

Note: I've only read book 1 so far but omgosh. Two words. Zachary Moore. *swoon* Also, ghosts and mysteries... and Irish rock bands. :P

    Fateful by Claudia Gray

Note: Werewolves on the Titanic? What? I haven't read it yet but it sounds cool!

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte ♥

Note: One of my all time favorite novels. It's a gothic romance with supernatural elements. Also Michael Fassbender plays the new Mr. Rochester in the 2011 movie adaptation. HOT, I'm telling you.

The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler - November 21, 2011

Note: The main characters live in the 90s but see their Facebook pages from the future... I bought this for my little sister for Christmas since she tends to like more contemporary YA while I prefer paranormal. :P

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

*Isla and the Happily Ever After - TBA 2012

Note: You said you liked Anna and the French Kiss. These are/will be the companion novels. While I've never read any of Perkins's work myself, I only hear good things!!

Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder - releases December 20, 2011

Note: This one just sounds awesome. I can't wait to get my hands on it!!

Tempest by Julie Cross - releases January 3, 2012

Note: I won an ARC but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. So far I like it. And time travel is always cool. The main character is also a guy and it's all from his pov as far as I can tell. But there's some pretty neat things going on in this book. He has to save his girlfriend but he's stuck in the past.

Cassandra Clare has a few friends who write along the same lines as her.

Holly Black (my personal favourite) Tithe, Valiant and Ironside. (If you look at her second book closely and then go back to City of Bones, you may see some of Holly Black's characters do a walk through.

Sarah Rees Brennan - The Demon's Lexicon, The Demon's Covenant and The Demon's Surrender.

Libba Bray - A Great and Terrible Beauty (you'll like this one if you like the book Cassandra Clare wrote set in Victorian era London)

    Caroline Cooney's Time Traveler's quartet:

    Both Sides of Time (1995)

    Out of Time (1996)

    Prisoner of Time (1998)

    For All Time (2005)

Yes, try reading works by Plato, Josephus, Yeats, Carlos Castaneda, a dictionary, or anything else that will give you actual knowledge instead of indulging in the fantastic.
