Too much Bandwidth usage help!?

I got a warning from residence tech staff here at university saying I went over my bandwidth limit. What does that mean? How can I reduse the usage? And what am I probably doing that's using a lot of it?

Apparently your university allows you to use there network to access the internet ,but they place usage limits on how much of it you can use.

When you use the internet via Computer or even by WIFI smart phone you use "Bandwidth"=:^^^The amount of data that can be passed along a communications channel in a given period of time.

Using the internet to download large amounts of things like Movie, music, youtube videos can really add up and push you over most limits very fast , especially if you do this everyday or view or listen to several media in a given time-period that is usally based on a 30 day time period.

Even most cell phone carriers set limits oon the amount of data/bandwidth you can use within the billing period without charging extra money for overage.
