What is the most polite way to call somebody lazy and encourage them to get motivated?

I need to do something to motivate my girlfriend to become more productive towards house work, job searching, and life in general.

Instead of assuming she is lazy and completely unproductive, why don't you try to see if she has some underlying issues that are causing her to lack motivation to to things.

I had the same problem, all I wanted to do was lay on the couch, read or watch movies... I never wanted to go to school or go to work or do homework and my boyfriend got frustrated. He told me to do this and do that and that I need to get off my a** and get something done because the last thing he wanted to see when he got home from work was "a messy house and a lazy girlfriend on the couch"

This did not help me in the least, it made me want to do less and lay on the couch even more, turned out I had depression and anxiety and that was why I was always so tired and unmotivated. I wasn't trying to be lazy, I just felt like I couldn't get up, couldn't get my life in order, like it was all worthless. I was prescribed antidepressants and since then I have much more motivation, I'm happier, healthier, more active etc...

Why don't you try talking to your girlfriend about this instead of just assuming she is lazy... sometimes there is much more than meets the eye.

    Hope I helped :)

Wait until she gets something done, like cleans the house, and then praise her a lot and take her out to dinner. There is no polite way to say outloud she is lazy.

Try to find out if she's really not motivated and if so why she isn't. How? I don't know. Maybe joking whyle you'r doing it, maybe directly... do some research :). For example possible she doesn't like to wash dishes withought glvoes on. She might simply not like it ( detergents are bad for the skin and more they give you an odd sensation after you've been using them ), she might be alergic etc...

Tell them you see so much potential laying there on the couch, and you'd love for them to live up to the amazing productive person you know they are.
