DVI only does video. This is why you normally only use DVI with a computer.
To get audio you have some options:
If you have a surround system nearby that has an optical audio INPUT (note: your computer usually only has an OUTPUT - not input) use an optical audio cable to connect the PS3. This will give you surround sound for your games and movies.
Otherwise you'll need to go get the yellow/red/white cable that came with the PS3 and plug that in as well. Ignore the yellow cable. You need the red/white cables which are stereo audio which you'll plug into one of the following:
* The red/white plugs belonging to the DVI input on your monitor (not all monitors have these.)
* The red/white plugs on your computer speakers for AUX Input. (not all speakers have these.)
* The red/white plugs INPUT plugs on your Stereo/Boombox/Surround system.
If none of those worked, go to Radio Shack or an electronics store and buy an adapter cable that has RCA plugs on one end and a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack (like the one your computer speakers use) on the other. Connect the PS3 audio cables to this, and plug it into your computer speakers or into the aux. input on your computer's sound card. Yes this means you might have to plug/unplug your speakers from the PS3 and computer if they only have 1 cable. Alternatively buy a better set of computers speakers - something with a subwoofer if you don't already have one.
Also, be sure to go into the PS3's setup menu and be sure the HDMI audio option is OFF otherwise you won't get any sound from the PS3.
