I am considering buying either 1. An ipod touch, 2. An Ipod 2, 3.a Kindle Fire...?

I currently have an 8 gig ipod nano fourth generation that is about 4 years old. It is completely full. I have a Toshiba laptop that I use for school and writing. It is less than a year old. I also have a Nintendo DS that's at least 5 years old. I have really enjoyed each of these items. Now I am going to be going into college next year and am looking for a fun new tool to replace my ipod nano 4th generation, or to complement it. I would like to be able to use it away from home, be able to connect to things like facebook, and have lots of puzzle games. I would also like to know about the number of free apps. I am an avid reader, play my DS at least twice a week, and a subscriber to Netflix. I don't really have a lot of money but am willing to save or receive help from my parents. I have put a lot of thought and research into this, but wanted some user opinions. Which one do you recommend? Which one do you think would fit my needs? Which model of item would you recommend if I picked a certain one? What are the main differences between the three?

Hi, Aya, I would recommend 4. Nook Tablet and I can back my statement up. Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire are both Wi-Fi only devices and they cost half of Wi-Fi-only iPad. If you get 3G-enabled iPad it'll cost you up to $900 plus monthly cost of 3G service - not many people can afford this for something than can break easily in one drop. iPad is a much better device that has a larger screen, two cameras, and over 500,000 apps/games in iTunes store. However, it is also much more expensive, heavier and less portable to take with you on the go. Unfortunately, Kindle Fire is not a replacement as it is one underpowered device to be called a media tablet. Just released next generation Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble clearly is the superior device. It is $224 if sign up for Barnes & Noble membership or $250 without signup. Not just 11.5 hours battery life but 9 hours of video playback time - that's vs. 8 hours for reading and 7.5 hours of video playback on Kindle Fire, 1.0 GB RAM Vs. 512 MB RAM of Kindle Fire, 16 GB content capacity plus 32 GB via microSD card vs. 8 GB capacity of Kindle Fire with no expansion slot. Nook's fully laminated HD screen for reduced glare vs. no lamination of Kindle Fire. Bulit-in and optimized Netflix and Hulu plus with millions of movies/shows vs. 100K movies/shows of Amazon store. Many popular apps in Nook app Store (like Angy Birds, Pandora, QuickOffice, etc.) Nook Tablet has built-in mic for Skype voice conferencing and dictations to speech recognition software, physical volume controls on the side, and it weights only 14.1 oz. Nook already has Cloud as all eBooks in your online library are stored there as well as downloaded to your device. Also, If you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you’re allowed to read ANY available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi and you get free technical support in case of issues in any of the store.

In addition, Nooks (since Nook Color) are the darlings of the root'ing community especially because they have microSD slot (not on Kindle Fire) thus Nooks can be rooted by burning OS image on the microSD card and booting off it without rooting the actual device and voiding the warranty. On Kindle, once you rooted there's no coming back. You can buy Nook’s at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Millon, Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeMax, Fred Mayer, P.C. Richard, Radio Shack, Target, Fry's, Kmart, Sears Kmart, Sears, etc. stores and web sites.

Get the iPod touch, you can order a refurbished one off of store.apple.com for like half price! I just picked up 2 32GB ones for my kids Christmas presents! I personally have an iPhone and got sick of them stealing it and downloading the bajillion free apps (there's literally a bajillion, they had to make up a new number just for the App Store!!!). Also there's a free Netflix app you can download and watch all of the instant view movies right on your device as long as it's connected to WiiFi!!! You want to get at least a 3rd gen model as those ones are the lowest generation eligible for IOS 5 which rocks hard!!! You'll love it I can guarantee it!!!

P.S. if you learn how to, and jailbreak it you can download emmulators for Gameboy, Nintendo DS, Atari, NES, Sega Genesis and pretty much every other game console ever made by this point! Then you just go download free copies of whatever game you want and play the snot out of it!!!

Books better your sentence structure, reading level, spelling, vocabulary, and generally tend to be educational than T.V.

when you are watching a movie or tv set it is very easy to get distracted and multi task, where reading a written book, it usually has your full attention!

Since you're heading for school, where your money and your time will be in short supply, now is not the time for a fun new tool, but rather the time to make do w/what you have.

If yiu want a music player then you can probably get by with your phone.

    And that is my advice.

    Nook!

-itouch/ipad does not have as many books to download

-Nook has better ratings than all of them, although the Kindle Fire is supposed to be really good, the Noook is still rated better

Source(s): my mom did lots and lots of research and she got that one!
