Advice on using a dual purpose bike in winter?

Hey i want to get a dual purpose, was wondering how well it would work in the snow in winter (ottawa, Canada) obvs id tune up the engine properly(or have it done; ) and get some beefed up tires. Probs get a ski-doo suit too. Any advice on that?

    Go for it. I've ridden in snow and I've ridden in deserts where the temperature was 120+. If Dan and Chris were motorcyclists rather than dilletantes, they would be riding regardless of conditions. NOTHING keeps me off my bikes

    Before investing too much try renting a snowmobile for a few hours.

    Hmmm??? .... Would two skinny tires on a light enough vehicle have enough power to stay on top of the snow?

    Source(s): Only rode a motorcycle in the snow when I needed to or wanted to to keep up points in the racing game, the rest of the time was FU, too F-ing Cold for this much 'fun'.

    The best winter gear is chains, wrap thru the frame and chain it to the back of the garage.
