Is selfish to ask other to make my birthday a big deal?

Is it rude to tell your friends and family that you want them to plan something for your birthday. I am turning 27 and I know that birthdays just get worse the older you get, but I cannot remember that last time anyone made a big deal about my birthday. It seems like my friends always get something huge and then mine comes around and it is "oh happy birthday." Am I being selfish to want someone to at least make an offer?

Yes, it is inappropriate and rude.

    Have a polite day.

Etiquette takes over where laws end.

If you want someone to make a bigger deal, wait until you turn 30, because turning 27 doesn't mean anything.

No. Just mention it. Say casually lets do something for my birthday.
