According to Hadiths, those who read the Holy Quran and Remember death constantly, have their hearts cleansed from darkness.

Waalikum Aslam Warahamathullahi Wbaarakathu Dear Sis, Hope you are well Insha-Allah (:

    اكثروا ذكر هادم اللذات

Our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: Constantly remember destroyer of pleasure.

Subhana Allah, Death is the destroyer of all pleasure..but some of us live our lives as if death doesn't exist. Actually Sis, not every one is scared of death due to their lack of knowledge and some think death will end their pain and suffering, if only they knew. Like you said, those who read the Quran, ponder and contemplate on Allah's word; those who take heed and fear Allah in public and private ...and those who try to implement what they learn on their daily basis would certainly fear when death is mentioned to them because they know the real life starts after death as Othman Bin Affan said the grave [barzakh] is the first stage of the Akhira..

Also, death is a blessing for a believer who is prepared, those who passed on are probably happier than we are now inshallah. May Allah make us all have beautiful deaths where the angels welcome out our souls with garments from Jannah, smell of musk, and glad tidings from Allah! --My friend said this once which is True Subhana Allah ~

We read in the Islamic traditions that the most wise and thoughtful are those who keep remembering death all the time. (Biharul Anwar, vol. VI, p. 135)

When the Holy Prophet said that hearts also get rusted like iron, the people asked, "With what substance can it be cleansed?" The Holy Prophet replied: "By remembering death and reciting the Holy Qur'an".

Another tradition that is narrated from the Holy Prophet is this: "Remember death frequently for it has four effects.

o It washes off your sins.

o It reduces your keen fondness for the world.

o It checks your indulgence in bad practices and improper use of wealth during the period of affluence.

o It makes a man content with whatever little quantity of wealth he has as during poverty his remembering of death makes him realize how easily he will account before Allah because he sees that when he has a small quantity of wealth his accountability also would be less".

Those who dont understand what death is are those who have not truly experience their dear ones pass away. Usually young people.

The LOVE ones who was with them laughing and all and lastly seeing them being lowered inside the ground and then covering our LOVE ones with soil.

It will be mind opening if they were the ones bathing them and personally covering them with soil

just like i did to my late grandpa.

As hard as that was.. it will be even harder doing this to any of my parent but i know this day will come. ;(

Do remember that we will not be as strong and beautiful forever. Our body will someday fail us. The simplest work will be the hardest.

And someday... our body WILL (without any doubt) kiss the earth we stepping on being lowered by our love ones.

We are so engrossed in our worldly pursuits that the remembrance of death does not occur to us. The Holy Prophet of Allah sallallahu alaihe wasallam has said, "The most intelligent person is the one who often remembers death. Constant remembrance of it prevents one from evil and sin and motivates him towards good morals. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, "The remembrance of death defeats joy."

The above narration clearly indicates that we are in this world for a purpose and not just for pleasure and entertainment. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam says, "Live in the world as though you are a wayfarer." Concerning this Hazrat Esa alaihis salaam has said, "This world is like a bridge, cross it and do not build on it."

Life in this world is very short which everyone has to surpass, until he meets his death. Allah says, "For every ‘Ummah’ (community or nation) there is a term appointed, when their term is reached, not an hour (nor a moment) can they cause to delay, nor (an hour nor a moment) can they advance (it)."

    And finally....

Hazrat Ibne Umar (Radiyallahi 'Anhu) says: "I was one among ten people who came into the presence of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. One Ansari stood up and asked Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam): "Who is the most intelligent and careful person?" Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied: "Those people who remember death most and prepare for it most. These are people who have excelled in the nobility of this world and the honor of the hereafter." [Reported by Ibne Abud Dunyaa and Tabraani,

    Jaamious Sagheer, Ibne Maajah, Targheeb]

    =======================

Well, it is a normal thing to remember death on my side. Waking up for tahajudd and making dua for jannatul firdous. Crying is what is hard to control when you are isolated in the dark night, standing infront of the king of the kings, who is Allah (swt).
