Why is Team GB not called TeamUK?

"The British Olympic Association (BOA) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for Great Britain and Northern Ireland." apparently. So why not call it TeamUK? They take UK money, they fly the UK flag and will sing the UK anthem. What's wrong with calling it TeamUK?

Update:

You don't get it lonewolf do you? It's supposed to represent the United Kingdom. However it calls itself TeamGB. GB does NOT = UK, no matter how you look at it.

You're right kid! It's a genuine outrage! I'm fizzing here! Let's do something. What about a petition? Boycott? No! A letter! Let's write a letter! I'm not having this! I'm off to get my pen. Night night.
