What does it mean when this boy says this? ?

Ok so I was with my friend, him, n his sister n I was talking with my friend n this boy is
very timid. He's family used to annoying me w him but not anymore (thank gosh) n one time he called my house even though I never really spoke to him..he asked if I could go over his house n watch movies w his mom n sister but I wasn't home wen he called so I asked him today like why did u call me just out of curiosity n he's like oh bc I wanted to no if u wanted to watch movies w me n my family n I was like oh n my friend says oh u like her n he says maybe n i'm like oh..n then it got awkward n I'm like sorry but I don't like u like that n he was just quiet about it. N well I want to no wat he meant but maybe he just wants to be friends which I hope that's wat he wants bc now like I feel bad n I have like this weird feeling..almost like a gulity feeling but I don't want u guys to think that I like him bc I don't n I never even spoken like barely bc he's kinda socially awkward no offense but hopefully u guys can answer this n sorry if it's a stupid question...thanks again

well i think he did mean it in a romantic type of way. If he had meant he liked you as just a friend then he wouldn't have answered maybe. I think you may have hurt his feelings by you being so quick to tell him that you don't see him like that. But you were right to be completely honest with him. its not good to lead people on. So even if he is bothered by it, it is sad, but he needs to know that you don't feel the same. Its life. I think that you could give it some time and then maybe just try to become friends with him. I am sure that he will be willing to do so. Maybe speak to him when you see him to make sure that he didn't mean friends. gl
