My gas fireplace is only partially working?

When I turn it on it barely lights. When I turn it up it is about 1/2 or less what it was last year. The burner is not clogged and free of blockage and residue. Is there a regulator on these things?

Update:

No manual also to hire a tech will cost more than a new fireplace. Guess i will just use at 1/2 speed.

Did you get a manuel with it? Does it have a trouble shooting section?

It could be a number of problems, from a loss of gas pressure, a blockage in the valve, valve malfunction, etc.

Call a certified technician, experienced in gas appliance service to look at you unit with all of the needed diagnostic tools and tell you exactly what's going on.

Gas appliances are not something homeowners should tinker with themselves.
