Why has the odometer and trip meter quit working on my 93 Cougar?

What would be the cause of this? I understand that it is a common problem on these models of Ford and Mercurys

    in the experience that your speedometer is working, then the VSS is working. the two connection for odometer or the little motor for the odometer. seems such as you are going to be changing the odometer/speedometer asm. could be slightly costly on your motor vehicle. seems for used one at salvage backyard.
