PSAT score Vs SAT score?

I'm a Junior.

I took the PSAT in Oct. of this year and I just got my results today and received a 1550 (a lot lower than what I expected). I took the SAT about a 2 weeks ago and my results are due in nine days, and I really hope I did better than my PSAT. I will honestly say that I studied but not as much as I could have, is there hope that it will be better? I looked back on my PSAT and saw that a lot of questions I missed was out of near stupidity. I just wanted to know your stories and how well PSATs determine SAT scores.

Thanks, please no dumb comments -.-

The PSAT score is out of 240 (the SAT is out of 2400 so you multiply your PSAT score by 10 to get the equivalent SAT score)...Did you mean a 155? In any case, when I multiplied my PSAT score by 10, it was almost 100 points lower than my SAT score, so it is very likely that you did better on the actual SAT than on the PSAT. The PSAT is a good determinant of the general range in which you'll be in terms of SAT scores, but it will not give you a very exact prediction, especially if you made a lot of silly mistakes on the PSAT that you didn't make on the SAT. My guess for why SAT scores are often higher is that the SAT has many more questions than the PSAT, and in a way, that gives you more opportunities to get questions right, if that makes sense.
