    6a + 10 = 4a + 16

    6a - 4a = 16 - 10

    2a = 6

    a = 3

    put all the 'a' numbers on one side of the equation. so minus 4a from the the left side and the right side so it becomes 6a - 4a + 10 = 16. Then put all the other numbers on the other side. so minus 10 on both sides. looks like this 6a - 4a = 16 - 10. then it becomes 2a = 6. then divide both sides by 2 so it's 2a/2 = 6/2 so it's a = 3.

    You want to get all of the a's on one side, and all the constants (normal numbers) on the other.

    6a+10 = 4a + 16

    *Subtract 4a from both sides

    2a+10 = 16

    *Subtract 10 from both sides

    2a = 6

    *Divide both sides by 2

    a = 3

    6a + 10 = 4a + 16

    Subtract 4a from both sides

    2a + 10 = 16

    subtract 10 from each side

    2a = 6

    divide both sides by 2

    a = 3

    6a + 10 = 4a + 16

    6a -4a = 16 -10

    2a = 6

    a = 6/2 = 3

    6a+10=4a+16

    Subtract 4a from both sides than subtract 10 from both sides you would get 2a=6 divide both sides by 2 and a=3!

  • 9 years ago

    a = 3

    6a + 10 = 4a + 16

    6a - 4a = 2a

    2a+10=16

    16 - 10 = 6

    2a = 6

    6 / 2 = 3

    6a-4a+10=4a-4a+16

    2a+10=16

    2a+10-10=16-10

    2a=6

    2a/2=6/2

    a=3

    plug 3 in for "a" and it checks

    28=28

  • 9 years ago

    6a - 4a = 16 - 10

    2a = 6

    a = 6/3

    a = 2

    You shouldnt be Asking us to DO YOUR WOrk for you but to help you. What i would do is subtract 10 on both sides. then subrtact 4 on both sides so that leaves you with 2a=6 then divide 2 from 6 which leaves a=3
