And it's time for another word hunt! (aka I can't think of the word for this)?
What's the word, if there is even a word, for the ball at the end of a Santa hat? See, I'm writing something and I'm using St. Nicholas as an allusion, and I'm trying to describe what he's wearing. It all went fine until I had to say he was wearing one of those hats with the white pom-pom thingamajigger on the end. The tone of what I'm writing is serious, so I can't really say "He was wearing a red hat with a white furry ball at the end" can I? No.
So is there a sophisticated-sounding word for the pom-pom at the end of a Santa hat? If there isn't, then I guess I just have to leave that part out. But I would much rather know the word. Thank you, and happy word hunting!
@Sobriquet Shadow whatever: So.... you're basically yelling to the entire world that you're stupid? Well... Ok, I mean.... if that's what you really want, then I'm not stopping you...
@Smart Girl Loves the Holidays: Uh... no... That's what google is for. Anyway you can try looking it up, but I found nothing.
@Beautiful Nightmare: I saw the definition of that on google, and I think it makes the most sense and sounds the least kiddish. Thanks :)
@Xenon: Tassel could work. I think your suggestion and Beautiful Nightmare's are the best ones I've gotten all day!

Sobriquet, I swear.....what did she say this time? Something about the U.K. blowing up America?
Anyway, is it called a tassel? Or pom-pom?

I think it's just a pom-pom. Don't think there's any other word for it. If there is, I'm sure someone else will correct me :)
