2008 5.4L f150 gas mileage help!!!!!?
I have a 2008 ford f150 supercrew with the 5.4L v8 and well... I only get about 10-12 MPG... it has 60,000 miles, brand new air filter, brand new tires (same exact ones that come with it off the lot)
And I basically only do highway driving, no stop-go driving... just 20 miles straight to school via highway, and 20 miles back...
Why is my mileage so bad!?!?!?!?!?!
What can I do to improve it, that won't cost every penny I have to my name..
U wad looking into a cheap chip for 25$ that is said to increase gas mileage by up to 5mpg, increase acceleration, and HP, and lowers the idle rpm.. and cruise rpm.. and makes the vehicle run smoother.
What should I do!?!?

The mileage is so bad because it is a V8 truck. I believe that the EPA rating is 19MPG hwy, and that is driving and accelerating so slow that you would probably be lynch mobbed if you drove like that in real life. 10-12MPG is a bit low, but not totally out of line.
How do you accelerate? If you go full-throttle onto the highway, you've erased any gas savings right there as you are probably getting only 1-2 MPG while speeding up.
How much stuff is in your truck? Trucks accumulate stuff (dry box, tools, tow ropes, straps, ect) plus any aftermarket stuff you might have on (bush bar, headache rack, canopy, winch, etc).
Tire pressures are a big one. Make sure they are at the correct inflation.
Some people try to gain mileage by removing the tailgate or leaving it open. That actually reduces mileage. With the tailgate closed it creates a bubble of swirling air that directs the airstream over the box.
Make sure your math is right. Also, track what you actually spend a month in fuel, because that is what you are primarily concerned about.
Don't get a chip. Their mileage and power claims are for the most part BS, and the potential damage you can do far exceeds any gas savings.

Is the computer on your truck telling you that is the gas mileage? because the computer might have an error in it, my car a computer and sometimes I got to reset it. Try resetting the computer, if that don't work, I would recommend taking it to a dealer. I know you probably don't want to do that.
It shouldn't be that low, a good friend has a 2008 as well and they were getting 19 on the high way the other day,
I got a Oldsmobile Aurora V-8 and if i get on it (which i do often) I will average about 14 MPG. But if i just drive normal I'll get about 18-22MPG. I don't really know if that is a comparison though?.

Did you rear when you put on the 35s? You should have 4.56's with 35's and the 300 I6. If you're still rocking the 3.08 or 3.55's then that's a problem. But overall 10 MPG is pretty reasonable for a truck with 6 inches of lift and 35's. I have a 4 inch lift and 33's on my Bronco with the 351 and 4.56 gears, and I get about 9-10 MPG. If you haven't already you should regear the truck, expect to spend about $1200. That should get you about 2 MPG or so and make the truck much more responsive. You can try putting synthetic gear oil in the diffs as well for a small gain. But there's not alot more you can do. As I said before for a full sized truck with a lift and 35's 10 MPG is about par for the course.
