Atheist pls answer! non-atheist can answer too?
WHY ARE MOST PEOPLE INSULTED, AND MORE OFTEN BULLY THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO OPENLY EXPRESSES THEIR FAITH TO GOD??
I just saw the news on Tim Tebow(an NFL player) who openly express his faith on every game. Now he is being ridiculed, insulted and trashed for it. Why? I'm a Christian, and people say we are being disrespectful and we shouldn't show our faith in public. It's our view in life, why can't we be respected for it? Atheists trash Jesus and God a lot. We don't trash, atheist or other religions. We are actually taught to respect other peoples beliefs and not shove our own on them.
Pls explain to me cause I don't get it..
(BTW, I purposely posted it in this category to get more answers)

It's simple... people are really good at fightning.
Go to the religion section and read the posts... what you're going to find is a bunch of unintelligent gibberish with the occasional intelligent question/answer in there.
The problem is always that the idiots are the loudest. A lot of Christians are blind Christians... they haven't read the bible and they believe what they were raised to believe. They may or may not go to church on sunday. Likewise, atheists blindly insult without doing their research as well.
Can you blame them? What you see on the news is idiots yelling at each other.
Because of religion, two people who love each other can't get married (or even have a civil union, which wouldn't even have to be religiously recognized). That doesn't sound right. Why are two people not allowed to love each other? Because others are FORCING their beliefs upon them.
In the same line of thinking, its the christians who want the bible to be taught as fact in schools (despite it being a belief/faith... aka something that cannot be proven.). And also, who want evolution to be not allowed in schools (despite scientific evidence).
That forcefulness with belief is why people want others to keep their religion to themselves as well.

They sometimes are killed for their faith. People dont like to be told they are wrong and they hate to be told how to live their lives. Gods thought on life is radical and for the most part has some restraints. Supprizingly enough people recieve less freedom from heart ach and pain if they do it Gods way. But there is that song, ( I did it my way). Take for example smoking, we know it is a killer but it doesnt stop us does it. Even when people we love die from it we sing (my way). In the beginning we say oh well we have to die from something, cocky like we know something God doesnt. Then when the doctor says Im sorry but I have bad news then we say why didnt God do something. He has been telling us all a long. The best advice I can give is when things get tough, while others are ringing there hads and have nothing to say, the christian can open Gods word and give peace and talk about a better place. So when the bullying starts just think who will have the last word.

As an atheist, I would say for the same reasons that we are looked down upon by Christians when we express our "view on life." As Christians, you are taught to spread the word of Christ to everyone, which is often misconstrued for you shoving your beliefs onto others. You are taught that anyone who doesn't share your faith is damned, so it is only natural to think less of those who are different than you. I don't think you can be upset, when really every other religious belief receives the same response for sharing their views. If Tebow bent down onto one knee to thank Allah, he would be a "terrorist," and if he openly expressed a disbelief in God he would be ridiculed for being an atheist.
Think about it: cashiers start saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas" to their customers, and now Christian groups have declared it a "War on Christmas." No one wins here. So really the only solution is to stop talking about religion outside the privacy of your own home.

Stereotypical much and doubly so. Atheists in general could care less what others believe, just get on with it and ignore extreme views and we'll do the same. From my point of view I feel if you get comfort from your views then fair enough, I'm happy for you to have a port in a storm.I'm equally content in my lack of belief in religion. No reason why we can't all just get along except when religion infringes on civil liberties...then the gloves are off.

This is in the wrong category, but I'll answer anyway. It goes both ways. I've seen Christian forums on the Internet saying "Atheist scum! We need to kill them" and much more graphic things than that. In fact, some of the most vicious forms of bullying I've ever seen were crazy overly zealous Christians attacking good hearted atheists because they refuse to embrace their notion of "god". Everyone needs to relax.

Christianity has been trying to convert people all the time. As an atheist, I don't support anyone being bullied for what they believe. I think religion can be abominable to mankind. And if you keep your religion to yourself and not proselytize, I would have no problem at all with you.

I discussed this issue with my boss today. I think people think their belief system is right and they can push it onto everyone else. I don't have that problem. If someone wants to be athiest, buddhist, whatever its their choice and I respect it. I don't think its my job to convert them to believe what I do. I think in today's day and age we should teach one another respect and acceptance. We care more about who's right than who is a good person.

you shouldnt show your faith in public because no one needs to hear your beliefs.by making your beliefs publicly known you piss off those who believe differently and it comes across as you shoving your religion on other peopls faces.if everyone kept their beliefs to themselves more often this world would be a bit more peaceful.

trust me you would get LODES of answers in the other category. All very insulting and snide though from atheists.
