Are you proud to live in a country where we will be allowed to choose what lightbulbs we can use?

Update:

It has a lot to do with my "freedom of choice", Gumby.

The next step is to ban incandescent bulbs. I have 165 of them in my house. I bet I use 15 on a regular basis and the other 150 are nearly always off--closets, attics, furnace rooms, decorative lights we never seem to turn on, and a few I didn't even know I had. Spending money to replace these is a waste of resources. I CHOOSE to not replace them since they are never used anyway. My government will compel me, someday, to drive to Walmart and buy the compliant kind.

I know it's a leap of faith, but consider that we're not a bunch of morons out here. I can make those decisions without Obama and Co.'s help.

Regarding your winter/summer lightbulb thing, in all likelyhood the heat from your furnace is cheaper than the heat from your bulbs.

Why not try what I do--only use lights where I need them and turn them off when areas are not in use? I also like dimmer switches. If I feel my way to the kitc

Update 2:

Regarding your solar statements, if you look at all costs--initial purchase, installation, maintenance, and expected life of the panel, they rarely make sense.

Update 3:

Regarding firewood: The world has always had forest and prairie fires. Now they are far less common and the slack is being replaced by firewood fires. The smoke particles act as a catalyst to form clouds and rain. I wouldn't consider that pollution on a global scale--it can be local pollution in populated areas though.

This is a good question I am sure that you mean incandescent bulbs with filaments which you may prefer to use.. Those experts can be tunnel visoned sometimes... They are focused on the illumination value of the bulb whiile ignoring the heat value of the incandescent bulb.. In wintertime, it is more benefical to use incandescent bulbs as they are hotter and keep your home warmer than CFL bulbs.. I dont know about LED bulbs as they are still too expensive and not as widespread yet. But for summertime, incandescent bulbs makes your home too hot and force your air conditioner to kick up a notch .. Basically, I would ignore anybody who use incandescent bulbs during wintertime as it is really neutral as far as energy conservation goes.. No matter what you feel or think about energy conservation, it is here to stay. We have to be more careful wtih the solutions . For example, I suspect that rooftop solar installations dont help at all because it cast shadows on the roof that makes the attic colder than before . It cancels out the gain we get in electricity from the sun with the loss in heat we get from the Sun in the attic. It is a cruel hoax.. It has nothing with your freedom of choiice because we need all the right solutions we can get to get out of our economic messes as you can see around yourself, right? Energy shortages is a dangerous thing to fool around with slogans like "freedom of choice" or "pursuit of happyness" and things like. that. Nobody cares if you can afford $10 gasoline or $500 oil barrels.. You have to conserve energy, period! Same thing goes to firewood which endangers our heatlh and drive up health costs... I have no proof because the experts is not interested yet.. I am sure that they will before too long.. The world is burning way too much firewood and cowbricks...
