why are people different colors?

well the bible say the at first there was one race but i dont remembe but some reason he had to make them diffrent sorry that wasnt really helpful

I would think its an adaptation to the environments that each race evolved in. Darker skin must somehow protect you from the sun since many darker skinned people are from areas near the equator.

It all depends on the atmospheric conditions our ancestors has evolved from. That is how the pigmentation differs.
