iPad 2, Kindle Fire, or iPad?

I'm saving up for and iPad 2 which costs $499 but I was surprised at Target yesterday when I found that the Kindle Fire is only $199! The original iPad is also a lot cheaper than the iPad 2. I need a tablet for school work (making presentations, typing reports, doing research etc.) I also need something that I can have fun with (watching movies, making movies in iMovie, photo booth, reading magazines and books, Facebook, etc.) I am also flying to Ireland this summer and I want a tablet that can entertain me for the long flight. I currently have about $350 saved for my tablet. Which do you recomend given the circumstances?

Hi Carly, iPad's got larger screen and much more apps but it's also much heavier, less portable, and more expensive while also iPad 1 is slower as it has a single-core CPU and 512 MB of RAM while Nook Tablet has dual-core CPU and 1.0 GB RAM. iPad 2 is better but twice as expensive and heavy. Kindle Fire is neither a tablet (too underpowered and lacks features) nor eReader (LCD screen and poor battery life.) It is rather a $200 device for shopping on Amazon web site. Take a look at recently released Nook Tablet (that is Nook Color 2) - it's been getting rave reviews and it is the best device in it's class - much better than Kindle Fire. It's got Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Angry Brids, etc., the best battery life (30% better than Fire), the best non-glare laminated screen (no lamination on very reflective Fire screen), double the RAM and space for apps/photos/movies than on Fire, microSD slot, a microphone for Skype, and physical volume controls on the side (neither is on Kindle Fire), very smooth video playback with excellent screen, and very fast apps load.

Known issues with Kindle Fire are that it runs hot to touch, video playback is jerky, touch screen is not responsive and it takes 2-3 touches to register, power button placement is very poor and is prone to accidental power off, all the hype of Silk browser is not true where the browsing is actually slower than on other Android tablets, Wi-Fi connection gives a lot of trouble to users on it, etc.

Definitely just save up your money and get an iPad 2, A Kindle fire may be $300 less but its not worth it. Especially if your gonna do reports and presentations get an iPad. Also on the App store you can buy an app called Pages. Its $10 But its great for doing reports and things and its like microsoft office and when your done you hook it up to your printer and print it out. Also a kindle fire doesnt have a camera which is something to think about if you like to take pictures. The kindle fire is alot thicker than a iPad 2. Theres soo much things you can do with an iPad 2.

Out of the three choices id go with the Ipad 2, because it has a lot more built into it.

    BUT

If i was to get a tablet, I wouldnt get an iPad i would get something like a Samsung Galaxy tablet or anything Android.. Androids have flash, they are faster, they are better, their fan base isnt bias like apples who think "anything with an i infront of it is amazing and everything else sucks!"

Watch a youtube comparison Ipad vs galaxy tablet

The Android market place is still growing, but it will be as big as apples very soon

It is near impossible to watch movies online for free or at least is safe and virus free as there are server costs and such that need to be paid and they have to make money somehow to pay them. Allot of the free sites do so nefariously to pay them.

If your looking for a safe reliable site to watch movies online try http://bit.do/Ipadmovies as my family has been using them for years to watch/download movies online. They have all the latest movies with no advertising and no buffering on their streaming videos and they even have direct downloads, no torrents. It is absolutely the only site in this category that I trust my kids to use safely.

If your trying to watch movies on your Ipad try http://bit.do/Ipadmovies because you can watch the original high resolution AVI, the site works with any device and since you can direct download your movies, there is no need for a proxy.

I've been burned way too many times and found myself with Spyware or a virus on my computer after using many of the free sites to watch movies online. Its not so free when you have to put hours and hours into removing the crap I got from them. If you are looking for a website that is safe and reliable give them a try.

Books transform your sentence structure, reading level, spelling, vocabulary, and generally are more educational than T.V.

when you are watching a television set or movie it is very easy to get distracted and multi task, where reading a written booklet, it usually has your full attention!
